I second the last suggestion - Chicago!!!!

Transportation is good and there is a crapload to do. I believe they even sell the "citypass" which gets you into most of the places free or at a discount. You can check out the giant bean and the face fountain, there are a ton of shows, plenty of museums, things to do on the lake, great restaurants the list goes on and on...

No state has good public transportation; but many cities do.

My personal favorite city to visit is Chicago, Illinois. The list of things to do there is beyond count. You can buy transportation passes that will let you explore the city for one, two, three, and five days, with unlimited trips, using either their elevated train system and/or their bus system.

Contact the counselor at the school you plan to attend for accurate info. Because it is high school, it's not likely that they'll put you in a grade that is higher or lower than the one you "belong" in based on your age. But what courses you receive credit for, and what you still have to take, will depend on what you know, and they may measure THAT with some placement tests. For example, if you're from another state, you may not have taken South Carolina history, and that may be required.

Chances are excellent that you will be in good shape academically. South Carolina is very friendly, so go in with an open mind and you will make friends fast. Best of luck.

Have you considered Washington, DC? It is not a state, but it has a good train/subway system. All the main attractions are National Parks/Museums so they are FREE! You could easily spend a week on the National Mall seeing the Capitol, Smithsonians, Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, or walking the tidal basin. You could take a train to the National Zoo, or over to Old Town Alexandria, or many other places.

Well in five days, you could just start to see ONE major city. Like San Francisco Calif. That alone could take five days, then for another five you could start checking out some of the nearby cities.
Good luck.

<a href=""></a>

Depends even going from one hs to another can mean different credits. My friend transfered and lost all her credits. When you go there you register, you might have to take a test (most likely) to see if you can even be in that grade. If you don't meet the requirements to be in 9th grade then theyll hold you back. It just depends on the school i suppose. That's all i know sorry. oh and good luck with moving, i moved to it was hard at first but it got easy. I have some friends who were home schooled and moved to public and they made friends fast.

<a href=""></a>

If you are staying in a downtown hotel for only a few days, I would recommend taking public transportation. There are plenty of shuttles from the airport - Grey line shuttles run every half hour from all the major hotels downtown. Most of the tourist sights are easily reached by walking, cab or the monorail. King county Metro buses are $1.25-1.50 depending on the time of day - And free in the downtown "core" of Seattle.

Now, if you are coming out here looking for a potential place to relocate to, or are staying outside of the downtown area; I would strongly recommend driving/renting a car. Because of the water and hills, riding the Metro bus to any of Seattle's neighborhoods can take a lot of time. Visit in April, the city is beautiful with the cherry blossom trees in bloom.
